Italian composer Barbara Strozzi’s (1619-1677) Il Primo Libro de Madrigali was published in 1644. The first of eight collections she would compose, the madrigals in this book were set to text written by her poet father.
"Conclusione dell'opera" (which translates to "Conclusion of the Work" - in reference to being the last of the 25 madrigals in Strozzi’s first book) was composed for alto, tenor, and bass voice with basso continuo.
Trombonist Corey Sansolo was inspired to transcribe the madrigals of Barbara Strozzi for brass following a 2019 early music performance in the Dominican Republic. He has transcribed over half of Strozzi's Opus 1 for a variety of trombone ensembles and brass ensembles.
