About the Collection:

This Collection of duets is written with flexible instrumintation in mind.  Written by top Vancouver-based jazz trombonist James Hopson, these duets are playable on any combination of two brass instruments.

‘Minor Detour’ is a 5/4 minor blues with a driving bass line and intricate, highly ornamented melody. Turns galore!

‘Chico de Oro’ is a pop ballad originally commissioned by Vancouver’s local legend, trumpeter Mark D’Angelo. It features a soaring melody and intricate counterpoint between the voices.

‘Man, I Feel Like a Beverage’ is an up-tempo shuffle inspired in equal parts by the music of Shania Twain and the trombone stylings of Lawrence Brown (Duke Ellington’s trombonist).
