Gilliland: Three Sketches of Covid-Times (Hard Copy)

3 Movement work for Trombone and PIano: 1. Quarentine Drag 2. Sorrow and Isolation 3. DoorDash Mambo. This work is both the result of Covid-19 and the long standing collaboration between David Gilliland and Ilan Morgenstern, that can be heard on It's Alive: New Music for Bass Trombone!  This attractive work for bass or tenor trombone, is of moderate difficulty level. About 8 minutes.

 

David Gilliland is a versatile pianist, comfortable performing in mediums ranging from classical to jazz, and from opera to musical theater. He frequently accompanies a diverse array of vocalists, instrumentalists, and chamber ensembles across the country. He has accompanied the Sphinx Competition, performed with the Charlotte Symphony Orchestra, and was contracted as a convention pianist for the National Flute Association in both 2014 and 2017. Commercial recordings of his include the complete wind compositions of Henri Dutilleux, the low brass works of Robert Denham with Ilan Morgenstern, and the flute sonatas of Modern Czech Masters with Orlando Cela.

David joined the University of Rhode Island as Lecturer of Collaborative Piano in 2019. He has previously served on faculties at Albion College, the University of Michigan, and Davidson College. For six years he had been the Collaborative Piano Coordinator for the Interlochen Summer Arts Camp – this summer he will join the staff of the Killington Music Festival in Rutland, Vermont. David holds graduate degrees in accompanying from the Eastman School of Music and the University of Minnesota; his primary teachers include Jean Barr, Margo Garrett and Karl Paulnack.
