"Starlight Highway is a concertino for alto trombone and piano. The piece is seen to be a metaphorical representation of the work of physicist Stephen Hawking. Starlight Highway contains moving lines that travel through the entire work much like Hawking's string theory postulates for our entire universe. The musical color palette is vivid and broad in my attempt to capture the visual beauty of the stars. I've included quotations from the late physicist within the parts to try and elicit the emotional weight and connection I felt writing this piece within both the performer and the audience. "
